Weapon Records
A vast amount of information can be held about a particular weapon - though not much of it is compulsory.
- Type, maker, supplier, calibre, etc.
- Serial number, Force Weapon Number
- Location, Service Interval, Condition Code
- Aggregate rounds fired to date
- Defect descriptions and history
For each weapon there then builds up a series of event records over time:
- Details of each issue and return of the weapon
- Servicing records
- Update of "Next Service Due" date
- Zeroing dates
Each weapon can fitted with a Barcode tape - we supply barcode printers, tape andf barcode readers for use with PAWS 4.
Each AFO can also be identified by a Barcoded Authorisation or Warrant card. To avoid the delay whilst waiting for paper to print or writing up a book, each AFO can "sign" for their weapons, and acknowledge the Fitness Declaration, by use of their secret PIN.
The system keeps a record of the current duty Issuer, who will be logged as issuing out and receiving back each item, for audit purposes. When a weapon is returned the user may log it as defective, and it will be so flagged throughout the system until the defect is cleared. There is a warning if a weapon being issued is already flagged as defective.
There is a range of summary screens and reports available - including a full history of any weapon that may have been issued to a team involved in an incident.
Ammunition Stocks and Usage
Each type and batch of ammunition is recorded, with an automatic calculation of NEQ for the location. Issues, the purpose for which the ammunition will be used, and quantities returned are recorded for budget and audit purposes.
Spare Parts
Some inspections have required to see a record of spares that fall within the provisions of the Firearms Act. The stocks of such spares are adjusted as and when they are used in the course of weapon servicing.
Lodged Weapons
At any time there may be a number of items in a police armoury that do not belong on the records of that force. Visitors may lodge weapons, items may be held for examination by the armourer, or may have been seized or surrendered, or awaiting use as an exhibit. The software provides an audit trail for movements of such lodged weapons.
Non-Firearms Inventory
The new version incorporates some elements of the "ARTS" system. This section can be used to hold detailed records on details and servicing records/stock levels of any assets - torches, ladders, clothing - in fact anything you would like to know alongside your main weapons inventory.
